AR Read

Accelerated Reader Books Question and Answer

Accelerated Reader is a popular reading management program that many schools use to help students read. Students take a brief fifteen-minute exam to discover what reading level they are comfortable with. After the reading exam a student will choose a book that reflects their reading level. Once the student has finished reading the book they take a brief multiple-choice quiz (10 to 20 questions) on the book. If the student passes the quiz, they get a certain number of points for the book they have read (points are earned according to difficulty and length of the book read). Usually a teacher will determine how many points a student must earn over the course of a term. The more a student reads, the more points they earn!

The Yale Library has many Accelerated Reader books. In fact, right now we have over 1600 titles to choose from in both the fiction and non-fiction sections. Books are marked with a sticker on the spine (levels 1-12).
