Yale Travel Club Update
Travel Club Parent/Student Information Meeting, Thursday, May 12th @ 5:30pm - 6:30pm
My name is Clay Radons and I am the teacher sponsor for the Yale Secondary Travel Club, a club endorsed by both the school and the school district. I just wanted to let you know of the opportunities available to your son or daughter in the next few years while they are attending Yale Secondary. If you are not interested, I apologize for the intrusion and please know I will not be sending multiple emails like this. Just kindly ignore this message and I will not bother you again. If you are interested in sending your kids on a student trip…or taking one yourself, please read on.
First, let me explain the difference between the Travel Club and other events. Every year the grads organize their own “Grad Trip” and will often relay to the parents that it is a SCHOOL trip when in fact it isn’t. Those grad trips are not supervised or endorsed in any way by the school or the district. I am not telling you to NOT send your kids on these trips but rather just informing you of the difference so that you are not surprised. The Yale Secondary Travel Club, being a school sponsored group, has teacher chaperones as it is an endorsed school function. ALL school rules apply as far as expectations concerning alcohol and drugs etc.
So on to the fun stuff…….
Officially starting in 2023 and occurring yearly during Spring Break we will be taking a group of selected individuals on trips around the world. Traditionally these trips have been very popular and have sold out every year. Here are the trips coming up in the next three years….for your planning purposes:
2023 Italy - Grad Class of 2023 -- SOLD OUT (waitlist only)
Our first trip will be heading to lovely Italy, starting off in Venice with Gondola rides, pizza margherita, and canal tours. We then head Southeast towards the Tuscany region to view the beautiful sights of Florence and learn how to make some of the cuisine, from there we keep heading South to Rome for Gladiator school and the coliseum, then to Pompeii the famous site of the eruption of Mt Vesuvius and we then head South once again and complete our trip on the beautiful Isle of Capri.
2024 - Thailand - Grad Class of 2024 -- (Info meeting May 12th, 2022)
The second trip will be to Thailand to experience the rich culture and exciting sights of that fabulous country. We will start in Bangkok and make our way north to visit an elephant sanctuary and then end our journey with a three-day beach stay in the Gulf Of Thailand. We are now accepting applications for this trip and will also have the conmplete itinerary and other details available to you at the May 12, 2022 meeting.
2025 TBA -- (Info Meeting Spring of 2023)
Still in the planning stages, this trip would encompass visiting the Acropolis, Greek cooking classes on one of the Greek islands, and then heading across the Aegean Sea to Turkey visiting a few of the Greek Islands along the way.
We will be having an information meeting for this trip on May 12th, 2022, in the Learning Commons/Library) at Yale Secondary starting @ 7:00pm. At the meeting you will find out all the details such as pricing, how many spots are available and all those other details. As a bonus, parents are welcome to travel with us so if this trip sounds like something you would also like to experience, come on out and find out more.
