EDI For Youth: Because It Matters
One of Yale Secondary's Gr. 11 students Samridhi (Ishi) Sharma has a passion for instilling a sense of belonging and inclusiveness in our Youth. Ishi has created YDI for Youth with the goal to promote value and understanding of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in our day-to-day lives.
Ishi is excited to share her learning and resources with others as she tries to spread awareness of the importance of EDI. Ishi says that "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) are important values of our modern world as they create an environment of respect and fairness. School integration of EDI is even more significant as it can provide a strong start and foundation for students to start learning about these values early in life, and incorporate them to thrive in safe, inclusive conditions."
Through this platform, Ishi hopes to educate us in this world as it continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Ishi believes that it is most important to have our youth engaged in EDI now more than ever due to the fact that it provides new perspectives, creativity, and a sense of belonging. EDI allows for youths' voices to be heard and recognized in the community. Ishi is hoping to spread awareness of the importance of EDI by sharing her learning and expert resources.
